IIM Indore Campus Details

IIM Indore, established in 1996, is an autonomous public management institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Its 193-acre residential campus is situated on a hillock in Indore and houses academic, residential, sports and recreational facilities. The campus includes modern classrooms, IT infrastructure, hostels, sports facilities and student amenities. 

Its location away from the city's busy areas provides a relatively quiet academic environment. The residential setup also supports an active student community, with hostels, common spaces, sports facilities and student-led activities forming an important part of campus life.

IIM Indore has a 20,000 sq. ft. campus located at Hiranandani Knowledge Park, Powai. Inaugurated in November 2021, the campus offers flagship and executive programmes, with modern facilities including classrooms, boardrooms, a studio, recreation room, cafeteria and a library. It also offers the two-year, alternate-weekend PGPMX programme designed for working executives and entrepreneurs. 

IIM Indore Hostel

IIM Indore follows a fully residential campus model, with hostel accommodation provided to students on campus. The institute currently lists 18 student residences along with dedicated mess blocks, canteens and common rooms.

The hostel blocks are spread across the hillock and are interconnected, with separate blocks or floors for men and women. Accommodation includes single-seater and shared rooms, although the current Hostel & Students Affairs document specifies that IPM students are allotted shared accommodation, with room allotment decided by the institute.

• Hostel rooms: IPM students receive shared accommodation, while PGP participants are provided single-occupancy rooms.
• Hostel blocks: The blocks have common areas with facilities such as televisions, table tennis, carrom, chess and darts. They also provide water coolers and purifiers.
• Sports spaces: Several hostel blocks have central squares with basketball or badminton courts, while some also have lawns.
• Room facilities: Rooms are furnished with beds and mattresses, study tables, chairs, cupboards and shelves. Rooms have internet connectivity.
• Mess and canteen: IIM Indore has dedicated mess facilities and round-the-clock canteen services offering vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The campus has 3 mess blocks and 4 canteens.
• Night food: The institute's facilities page lists a night canteen operating from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The student-run Mess Committee also identifies the Night Mess and Evening Canteen as student initiatives.
• Common spaces: The campus has 20 student common rooms, providing spaces for recreation and interaction.

Life at IIM Indore Campus

Life at IIM Indore follows a structured academic schedule but extends well beyond classroom learning. A typical day combines lectures, case discussions, academic preparation, student-led activities and time for sports or socialising.

1. Academic Routine at IIM Indore

Classes generally begin in the morning, with students expected to report on time. The academic schedule includes 75-minute sessions separated by short breaks, leaving a substantial part of the day dedicated to classroom learning.

Students are also expected to prepare before class. Faculty members may circulate readings, cases or other study material in advance, making pre-class preparation an important part of the academic routine.

2. Student-Led Campus Life at IIM Indore

A significant part of campus life revolves around student-led committees and activities. The Student Activities Council (SAC) coordinates several student activities, while individual committees handle areas such as culture, sports, events and student engagement.

The Cultural Committee (CulCom) organises activities throughout the year, including festivals, cultural events, parties, bonfires and informal campus activities. These events add a social dimension to the otherwise intensive academic schedule.

3. Sports and Recreation

Evenings give students time to play sports, take walks around campus, or spend time with friends. Students also get opportunities to explore Indore's food and local attractions.

4. PI Shop and Student Responsibility

Students also manage the PI Shop, which caters to everyday campus requirements. Apart from serving as a convenience store for students, its management gives students practical exposure to areas such as inventory, operations and basic business management.

Atharv Ranbhoomi is the annual flagship fest of IIM Indore, organised entirely by students of the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). The three-day fest brings together management, literary, cultural and sports events, attracting participation from colleges across India. 

IIM Indore describes it as one of the largest college fests in Central India, while its 2025 brochure refers to it as the largest college festival in Central India. 

The 2025 IIM Indore brochure reports 45+ events, participation from students across 300+ colleges and a footfall exceeding 90,000.

• Comedy and entertainment: Atharv Ranbhoomi has hosted comedians including Zakir Khan, Samay Raina, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Rahul Subramaniam and Aashish Solanki over different editions.
• Management and literary events: The fest features events such as Imperium, Avant Garde, Chaitanya, Headhunter and Finopoly, covering areas such as strategy, entrepreneurship, leadership, HR and finance.
• Cultural and sports events: Participants compete across dance, music, theatre, debate and sports such as cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton and chess.

• Batch Composition: The 2024–26 batch comprised 586 candidates, including 492 MBA candidates and 94 Dual Degree candidates. 36% of MBA candidates had prior work experience, with an average experience of 22 months.
• Work Experience: Among MBA candidates, 57% had 0–1 year, 25% had 1–2 years, 13% had 2–3 years, and 5% had more than 3 years of work experience. IT/Analytics accounted for 30% of prior work experience, followed by Engineering/Operations at 25%, Others at 23%, Consulting at 12% and BFSI at 10%.
• Recruiters: The 2026 final placement process included 240+ recruiters, with 70+ new recruiters participating for the first time. These included Nomura, BNY, Bajaj Finserv, Monitor Deloitte, Infosys Consulting, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, Jindal Steel and TCS.
• Placement Packages: The highest CTC was ₹82.54 LPA, while the average CTC stood at ₹27.27 LPA and the median CTC at ₹25 LPA. The placement process also recorded 158 PPOs, with 67 recruiters extending pre-placement offers.
