What is IPMAT Exam?

The Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test, also known as IPMAT, is a national-level entrance exam conducted by IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak for admission to their prestigious 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). IPMAT 2027: Eligibility Criteria

The IPMAT eligibility for IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak differs in terms of the minimum percentage requirement in class 12. As per the IPMAT Indore eligibility criteria, candidates must have passed 12 from a recognised board. There is no minimum percentage required for the IIM Indore IPM program. How to Apply for IPMAT Exam 2027

Step 1: Visit the Official Website - Go to iimidr.ac.in for IIM Indore or iimrohtak.ac.in for IPMAT Rohtak and navigate to the IPM Admissions section. Now click on the IPMAT 2027 registration link.

Step 2: Register and Create Your IPMAT Account - Enter your name, email ID, and mobile number to create a login account. Verify the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Make sure you use your own phone number and email ID, as this login credential will be used throughout the selection process.

Step 3: Fill the IPMAT Application Form - Enter personal details, date of birth, category, Class 10 and 12 details including board name, percentage, and year of passing.

Step 4: Upload Documents - Upload a recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature in the prescribed format and size along with other documents.

Step 5: Select Test City Preferences - Choose the test city from the dropdown where IPMAT is conducted across India.

Step 6: Pay the IPMAT Application Fee - Pay it online via debit/credit card, UPI, or net banking. 

Step 7: Submit and Download Confirmation - Review all details, submit the application, and download the confirmation page and fee receipt for future reference.

IPMAT 2027 Exam Pattern

Understanding the exam pattern helps you in IPMAT preparation. IPMAT Indore exam duration is 120 minutes. IPMAT Indore question paper has 90 questions, whereas IPMAT Rohtak question paper has a total of 120 questions.

IPMAT Indore Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The IPMAT Indore Exam Pattern consists of 3 sections, each with a 40-minute time limit. For each correct answer, a candidate is awarded 4 marks, and for a wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted. Aspirants must take note that, as per the IPMAT Indore marking scheme, there is negative marking only for MCQs and not for Short Answers.

IPMAT Rohtak Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

IPMAT Rohtak Exam Pattern consists of 3 sections - Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability, and there is NO sectional time limit. IPMAT Rohtak question paper has only MCQs, and there is no SA, unlike IPMAT Indore. As per the IPMAT Rohtak marking scheme, candidates receive 4 marks for every correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect response.

IPMAT 2027 Syllabus

The IPMAT Syllabus for IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak is almost similar, but IPMAT Rohtak has Logical Reasoning as a separate section. Many students who have a non-math background think that advanced-level maths is asked in the exam, but this is not true. The majority of maths questions in IPMAT exam are from the class 6-10 syllabus and a few topics from class 11 and 12.

IPMAT 2027 Selection Process

The selection process for IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak IPM course is based on IPMAT scores and PI.  

IPMAT Indore 2027 Selection Process

Stage 1 - IPMAT Indore Exam: Candidates appear for the IPMAT Indore aptitude test consisting of 90 questions over 120 minutes. 

Stage 2 - IPMAT Indore PI Shortlist: Candidates must clear the sectional cutoffs in order to be eligible for the PI round. In 2026, the General category sectional cutoffs were 27 (QA-MCQ), 28 (QA-SA), and 111 (VA). A total of 838 students were shortlisted for PI in 2026.

Stage 3 - IPMAT Indore Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for a PI conducted by IIM Indore. The PI typically covers academic background, current affairs, logical reasoning, and motivation for studying management. 

Stage 4 - IPMAT Indore Final Merit List: IPMAT Indore final merit list is prepared based on a composite score: IPMAT Aptitude Test score carries 65% weightage, and PI performance carries 35% weightage. Unlike IIM Rohtak, IIM Indore does not give any weightage to Class 10 or Class 12 marks for the final merit list.

IPMAT Rohtak 2027 Selection Process

Stage 1 - IPMAT Rohtak Exam: Candidates have to appear for IPMAT Rohtak exam having 120-question MCQ-based test across 3 sections (QA, LR, VA) over 120 minutes with no sectional time limit.

Stage 2 - IPMAT Rohtak PI Shortlist: Candidates who score above the overall cutoff are shortlisted for the PI. 

Stage 3 - IPMAT Rohtak Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates appear for an Online Personal Interview. IIM Rohtak also includes WAT (Written Ability Test) as part of the PI process in some years.

Stage 4 - IPMAT Rohtak Final Merit List: IIM Rohtak prepares the final merit list based on the composite score, which includes the IPMAT Rohtak score, PI performance, and Class 10 and 12 academic marks. The weightage for each of these parameters is 55%, 15%, 10% and 12% respectively.

IPMAT Indore is one of the most competitive management exams in India, with over 30,000 candidates competing for 150 seats. Section-Wise Preparation Tips

The preparation strategy for IPMAT Indore and Rohtak remains the same except for one section, which is the additional Logical Reasoning section for IIM Rohtak. 

Quantitative Ability (QA)

•  Master NCERT Mathematics from Class 9 to 12 before moving to brush up previously learnt basic concepts before moving to advanced resources.
• Focus heavily on Algebra, Geometry, Number Systems, and Modern Mathematics - these are the highest-weightage topics in IPMAT Indore.
•  In the QA Short Answer (SA) section for IPMAT Indore, there is no negative marking. Attempt every SA question even if you are not 100% sure.
• In 2025, Geometry alone had approximately 8 questions in IPMAT Indore - a 3x jump from previous years. Stay flexible about topic weightage and do not leave any topic
• Practice at least 50 problems per topic and build mental math speed.

Verbal Ability (VA)

• The VA section in IPMAT Indore has 45 questions with a total of 180 marks - the highest in the paper. A strong performance here can compensate for moderate QA scores.
• In 2026, the General category VA cutoff was 111 out of 180, which means you need to score approximately 62% in this section just to qualify.
• Read one quality article or editorial daily from newspapers like The Hindu or Indian Express.
• Practice RC passages daily with a 7–8 minute time target per passage.
• Focus on Para Jumbles, Para Completion, and Error Correction for scoring quick marks.

Logical Reasoning (LR) 

• LR is a dedicated 40-question section in IPMAT Rohtak carrying 160 marks. Since there is no sectional cutoff in Rohtak, a strong LR performance can boost your overall score significantly.
• Practice Syllogisms, Blood Relations, Seating Arrangements, and Coding-Decoding regularly.
• Aim for at least 110+ total questions attempted in IPMAT Rohtak to be competitive.
