IPMAT 2027 Syllabus
The IPMAT Syllabus for IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak is almost similar, but IPMAT Rohtak has Logical Reasoning as a separate section. Many students who have a non-math background think that advanced-level maths is asked in the exam, but this is not true. IPMAT 2027 Selection Process
The selection process for IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak IPM course is based on IPMAT scores and PI.
IPMAT Indore 2027 Selection Process
Stage 1 – IPMAT Indore Exam: Candidates appear for the IPMAT Indore aptitude test consisting of 90 questions over 120 minutes.
Stage 2 – IPMAT Indore PI Shortlist: Candidates must clear the sectional cutoffs in order to be eligible for the PI round. In 2026, the General category sectional cutoffs were 27 (QA-MCQ), 28 (QA-SA), and 111 (VA). A total of 838 students were shortlisted for PI in 2026.
Stage 3 – IPMAT Indore Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for a PI conducted by IIM Indore. The PI typically covers academic background, current affairs, logical reasoning, and motivation for studying management.
Stage 4 – IPMAT Indore Final Merit List: IPMAT Indore final merit list is prepared based on a composite score: IPMAT Aptitude Test score carries 65% weightage, and PI performance carries 35% weightage. Unlike IIM Rohtak, IIM Indore does not give any weightage to Class 10 or Class 12 marks for the final merit list.
IPMAT Rohtak 2027 Selection Process
Stage 1 – IPMAT Rohtak Exam: Candidates have to appear for IPMAT Rohtak exam having 120-question MCQ-based test across 3 sections (QA, LR, VA) over 120 minutes with no sectional time limit.
Stage 2 – IPMAT Rohtak PI Shortlist: Candidates who score above the overall cutoff are shortlisted for the PI.
Stage 3 – IPMAT Rohtak Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates appear for an Online Personal Interview. IIM Rohtak also includes WAT (Written Ability Test) as part of the PI process in some years.
Stage 4 – IPMAT Rohtak Final Merit List: IIM Rohtak prepares the final merit list based on the composite score, which includes the IPMAT Rohtak score, PI performance, and Class 10 and 12 academic marks. The weightage for each of these parameters is 55%, 15%, 10% and 12% respectively.

IPMAT Indore 2027 exam is expected to be conducted in the first week of May 2027 and IPMAT Rohtak 2027 is expected in the second week of May 2027.
For IPMAT Rohtak, General/OBC(NC)/EWS candidates need a minimum of 60% in both Class 10 and Class 12. SC/ST/PwD (DAP) candidates need a minimum of 55% in both classes. For IPMAT Indore, candidates must have passed class 10 and 12; there is no minimum percentage requirement.
Yes. IPMAT does not require Mathematics as a compulsory subject in Class 11 or 12. Students from Science, Commerce, and Arts/Humanities can apply for the exam. However, the QA section of IPMAT covers Mathematics, so it is beneficial to have studied the subject.
Yes, for MCQ questions, there is negative marking in IPMAT exam. In IPMAT Indore, -1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer in the QA-MCQ and VA sections. The QA Short Answer (SA) section has NO negative marking. In IPMAT Rohtak, -1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer in all three sections (QA, LR, VA).
IIM Rohtak has a total of 198 seats, whereas IIM Indore has a total of 150 seats.
After clearing the sectional cutoffs (IIM Indore) or overall cutoff (IIM Rohtak), shortlisted candidates appear for a Personal Interview (PI). At IIM Indore, the final admission is based on 65% IPMAT score + 35% PI performance. At IIM Rohtak, the final score also considers Class 10 and 12 academic performance, and the weightage given to IPMAT score, PI, Class 10 and Class 12 marks are – 55%, 15%, 10% and 12% respectively.
Yes. IPMAT Indore and IPMAT Rohtak are conducted by separate institutions (IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak, respectively), on different dates. Candidates can register and appear for both exams simultaneously.
