IIM Kozhikode BMS Preparation Tips

Candidates preparing for the IIM Kozhikode BMS Aptitude Test should focus on both Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability. Subject-wise preparation helps identify weak areas and allocate study time effectively. Follow these tips to strengthen concepts, improve accuracy and practise questions based on the exam syllabus.

1. Understand the Exam Syllabus and Pattern

Start your preparation by reviewing the IIM Kozhikode BMS Aptitude Test syllabus and exam pattern. The test covers Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability. Understand the topics, marking scheme and sectional time limits before creating a study timetable. This will help you allocate sufficient time to both subjects.

2. Strengthen Quantitative Ability Fundamentals

Focus on number systems, algebra, geometry, mensuration, statistics and probability. Revise basic mathematical concepts using NCERT textbooks before solving competitive-level questions. Practise numerical problems daily and maintain a notebook of important formulas. Gradually move to questions of higher difficulty as your calculation speed and accuracy improve.

3. Improve Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

Read newspapers, editorials and informative articles daily to improve reading speed and comprehension. Practise questions based on the main idea, inference and tone of a passage. Revise grammar rules, sentence structure and vocabulary regularly. Reading for 20–30 minutes every day can help improve comprehension and familiarity with different writing styles.

4. Practise Previous Year and Sample Question Papers

Solve the available IIM Kozhikode BMS question paper to understand the question format and difficulty level. Attempt questions from both sections and analyse your answers afterwards. Identify recurring mistakes and revise the concepts behind incorrect responses. Regular practice will help you recognise familiar question types and improve your approach to solving them.

5. Take Mock Tests

Attempt mock tests to improve speed, accuracy and time management. After each test, review your performance in Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability separately. Identify topics that take too long or lead to incorrect answers, and practise them again.
