IPMAT Full Form

IPMAT full form is the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test. It is a popular management entrance exam conducted by IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak. 

Purpose of Conducting the IPMAT Exam

IIMs conduct the IPMAT exam to fulfill the following purposes:

• Selection of deserving candidates for admission to the 5 year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) offered by participating IIMs.

Candidates must possess the IPMAT 2028 eligibility criteria to appear for the examination.

Step by Step Process to Apply for IPMAT Exam 2028

Step 1: Visit the Official Website 
Go to iimidr.ac.in for IIM Indore or iimrohtak.ac.in for IPMAT Rohtak. Click on the IPMAT 2028 registration link under the admission section

Step 2: Create Your IPMAT Account 
Begin your IPMAT registration by entering your name, email ID, and mobile number. Verify the OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email id. 

Step 3: Fill the IPMAT Application Form 
Complete your IPMAT application form by entering details like your date of birth, category. Further, mention your Class 10 and 12 details, including board name, percentage, and year of passing.

Step 4: Upload Documents 
Now, upload your recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature in the prescribed format and size along with other documents on the upload section.

Step 5: Select Test City Preferences 
After this, choose the test city from the dropdown where IPMAT is conducted across India.

Step 6: Pay the IPMAT Application Fee 
Next, complete the IPMAT application form by paying the fee via debit/credit card, UPI, or net banking.

The IPMAT exam is held in the online mode as a computer based test. There are three sections for each exam, the details of which you can check below.

IPMAT Indore Exam Pattern 

• The IPMAT Indore Exam consists of 3 sections, each with a time limit of 40 minutes.
• Candidates are awarded 4 marks for every correct answer.
• 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
• Negative marking is applicable only for MCQ-type questions.
• There is no negative marking for Short Answer questions.

IPMAT Selection Process 2028

Read about the IPMAT selection process 2028 in the section below. 

IPMAT Indore 2028 Selection Process

• Stage 1 – IPMAT Indore Exam: Candidates appear for the IPMAT Indore aptitude test consisting of 90 questions over 120 minutes. 
• Stage 2 – IPMAT Indore PI Shortlist: Candidates must clear the sectional cutoffs in order to be eligible for the PI round. In 2028, the General category sectional cutoffs were 27 (QA-MCQ), 28 (QA-SA), and 111 (VA). A total of 838 students were shortlisted for PI in 2028.
• Stage 3 – IPMAT Indore Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for a PI conducted by IIM Indore. The PI typically covers academic background, current affairs, logical reasoning, and motivation for studying management. 
• Stage 4 – IPMAT Indore Final Merit List: IPMAT Indore final merit list is prepared based on a composite score: IPMAT Aptitude Test score carries 65% weightage, and PI performance carries 35% weightage. Unlike IIM Rohtak, IIM Indore does not give any weightage to Class 10 or Class 12 marks for the final merit list.

IPMAT Rohtak 2028 Selection Process

• Stage 1 – Written Examination: The first stage of the selection process requires candidates to appear for the IPMAT Rohtak examination, which consists of a 120-question Multiple Choice Question (MCQ)-based test. The examination is divided into three sections,  Quantitative Ability (QA), Logical Reasoning (LR), and Verbal Ability (VA),  and must be completed within a total duration of 120 minutes. Candidates are not bound by any sectional time limits, allowing them to allocate time at their own discretion.
• Stage 2 – Shortlisting for Personal Interview: The candidates who meet or exceed the prescribed overall cutoff score are deemed eligible to proceed to the next stage.
• Stage 3 – Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates are required to appear for an Online Personal Interview (PI) conducted by IIM Rohtak. In certain years, the institute may also incorporate a Written Ability Test (WAT) as part of this stage. 
• Stage 4 – Final Merit List: IIM Rohtak prepares a final merit list based on a composite score derived from multiple parameters. The weightage assigned to each component is as follows: IPMAT Rohtak examination score (55%), Personal Interview performance (15%), Class 12 academic marks (12%), and Class 10 academic marks (10%).
