FAQs on CMAT 2027

CMAT full form is the Common Management Admission Test.

CMAT exam is held once a year. The exam is a national-level MBA entrance exam accepted by AICTE-approved institutes across India.

Yes, you can crack CMAT in 3 months with a well-planned preparation strategy. Focus on the complete syllabus, take regular mock tests, and solve at least the previous five years' question papers to improve accuracy and speed.

CMAT is generally considered easier than CAT in terms of difficulty level. The questions are more straightforward, and the exam includes sections such as General Awareness and Innovation & Entrepreneurship, which are not part of CAT.

Based on previous years' trends, the CMAT 2027 exam is expected to be held in the last week of January 2027. The NTA will announce the official exam date through a notification.

CMAT 2027 registration is expected to begin in mid-October 2026 and continue until mid-November 2026. Candidates should complete the application process before the last date to avoid any issues.

The application fee is INR 2,500 for male candidates from the General/EWS/OBC-NCL categories and INR 1,250 for female candidates in the same categories. The fee for SC, ST, PwD, and transgender candidates is INR 1,250.

Yes, CMAT follows a negative marking scheme. Candidates receive 4 marks for every correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.

A score of 200 marks is considered an average score and can help candidates secure admission to several good management institutes. However, top B-schools generally require 300+ marks, while institutes like JBIMS may require 360+ marks for a 99+ percentile.

The CMAT cutoff varies by participating institute. Top colleges such as JBIMS and SIMSREE typically have cutoffs of 99+ percentile, whereas many reputed B-schools accept candidates with 80–95 percentile scores.
