IIM Ahmedabad Admission: Entrance Test and Selection Process(2026/2027)

The IIM Ahmedabad admission process varies across PGP, PGP-FABM, MBA-PGPX, BPGP, Blended MBA in Business Analytics & AI, PhD, and ePGD-ABA. Each programme has separate eligibility and selection criteria. 

For IIM Ahmedabad MBA admission, the qualifying CAT overall cut-off is 95 for General/EWS, 90 for NC-OBC, 85 for SC, and 75 for ST. Final selection carries the following weightage: 50% PI, 25% CAT, 15% AR, and 10% AWT.

PGP-FABM uses 65% CAT and 35% Application Rating Score for shortlisting. Final selection uses 50% Composite Score, 40% PI, and 10% AWT.

For MBA-PGPX, Round 1 final selection is October 16, 2026, and Round 2 final selection is January 22, 2027. The Blended MBA in Business Analytics & AI has final selection dates of December 21, 2026 and February 10, 2027 for its two rounds.

For PhD, applications open on September 8, 2026 and close on January 18, 2027, at 5:00 PM IST. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for March–April 2027. ePGD-ABA requires a bachelor’s degree and 2 years of work experience.

IIM Ahmedabad sets programme-specific eligibility requirements based on academic marks, qualifications, age, and work experience.  MBA requires a bachelor’s degree with 50% marks, while MBA-FABM requires a bachelor’s/master’s degree in agriculture or related disciplines with 50%.

1. IIM Ahmedabad MBA Admission

IIM Ahmedabad’s two-year PGP is its flagship MBA programme. IIM Ahmedabad PGP admission involves CAT-based preliminary screening, Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) shortlisting, followed by final selection.

2. IIM Ahmedabad MBA-FABM Admission

The PGP-FABM admission process has three stages. CAT performance and the Application Rating Score are used to shortlist candidates. 

Stage 1: Preliminary Screening

You must clear the prescribed CAT sectional and overall cut-offs. You must also score positively in QA, DILR, and VARC. Shortlisting gives 65% weight to CAT and 35% to the Application Rating Score.

3. IIM Ahmedabad MBA-PGPX Admission

For the PGPX, IIM Ahmedabad follows a two-stage selection process. Candidates are assessed through standardised test scores GMAT/GRE, leadership profiling, essays, and personal interviews.

The MBA-BPGP: BA & AI admission process has two stages. Shortlisting is based on standardised test scores, including the IIMA Admission Test for BPGP: BA & AI/CAT/GMAT or GRE. Shortlisted candidates then appear for a PI with an IIMA faculty panel.
