How Difficult Is It to Get a Seat at IIM Ahmedabad?

Getting an IIM Ahmedabad seat is not based on CAT percentile alone. For MBA admission, IIMA uses several stages. First, you must clear the applicable CAT screening requirements. Then comes shortlisting for the Analytical Writing Test and Personal Interview. The final selection uses a Final Composite Score (FCS).

How to Secure IIM Ahmedabad Seat?

To secure an IIM Ahmedabad seat, you must meet the eligibility criteria, clear the required CAT cutoff, and perform well in the AWT and PI rounds.

• Meet the eligibility criteria: Hold a bachelor’s degree with 50% marks.
• Clear the CAT cutoff: For PGP 2026–28, the minimum cutoff is 95 overall and 85 sectional percentile for General/EWS candidates.
• Maintain strong academics: IIMA considers Class 10, Class 12 and bachelor’s marks in its Application Rating.
• Perform well in AWT and PI: If shortlisted, appear for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI).
• Focus on the final score: The Final Composite Score carries 50% weightage for PI, 10% for AWT, 25% for CAT and 15% for Application Rating.
• Meet the age requirement: You must be 19 years old.
