What Happens After Clearing the IIM Bangalore UGAT Cutoff

Meeting the minimum IIMB UGAT cutoff makes you eligible for consideration in the first shortlist, provided you meet all other admission conditions. IIM Bangalore follows a two-stage selection process for the 2027–31 undergraduate batch.

  • Stage I: You are considered for the first shortlist. The institute calculates a Pre-PI score using the UG Admission Test, Class 10 performance and the applicable gender diversity component.
  • Stage II: You are shortlisted based on the Pre-PI score and attend a personal interview. Your final selection score is calculated using the prescribed post-interview weightage.

The final admission offers are made based on post-PI scores. Clearing the IIM Bangalore UGAT cutoff alone does not guarantee admission.

Stage 1: First Shortlist and Pre-PI Score

If you meet the minimum qualifying requirements, you are considered for the first shortlist. IIM Bangalore calculates a Pre-PI score out of 100 points using the following components:

Component Weightage
UG Admission Test 70
Class 10 overall score (standardised) 15
Class 10 Mathematics score (standardised) 10
Gender diversity 5
Total 100

The 70 points assigned to the UG Admission Test are divided among the three sections as follows:

Test Section Weightage
QADI 30
Logical Reasoning (LR) 20
VARC 20
Total 70

IIM Bangalore uses the Pre-PI score to select candidates from each category for the personal interview stage. The gender diversity component applies only to the Pre-PI calculation and is not used in the next stage.

Stage 2: Personal Interview

If you are shortlisted after Stage I, then you must attend a personal interview. The interview is part of the second stage of the IIM Bangalore UG admission process and contributes 40 points to the final selection score.

IIM Bangalore requires two online reference letters from candidates shortlisted after Stage I. The referees must be teachers from academic institutions where the candidate currently studies or has studied. They must have taught the candidate relevant subjects within the preceding four years.

Submit the Required Documents

You must submit the documents specified in the official admission process. The 2027–31 admission document lists the following requirements:

  • Class X and Class XII board transcripts and certificates.
  • Statement of purpose.
  • SC, ST, NC-OBC or EWS certificate, where applicable.
  • Relevant disability certificate and UDID Card for PwD candidates.

Final Admission Offers

IIM Bangalore calculates the final selection score after the personal interview. The post-PI score is based on four components, with the IIMB UG Admission Test and personal interview carrying equal weight.

Component Weightage
Class 10 overall score (standardised) 10
Class 10 Mathematics score (standardised) 10
UG Admission Test score (standardised composite) 40
Personal interview 40
Total 100
