CUET UG Marking Scheme 2026

The CUET marking Scheme for 2026 are determined by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Each subject is worth a maximum of 250 marks, and this marking applies equally to all sections - Language, Domain subjects, and the General Test. The CUET marking scheme applies to all subjects provided by the NTA. The standard marking scheme is as follows:

• The correct answer has 5 marks for each question.
• 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer.
• No marks are awarded to students for unattempted questions.

CUET 2026 Total Marks Per Subject

CUET maximum marks per subject are 250. Since you can choose a combination of subjects (up to a maximum of 5), your overall total will depend on your specific choices:

• 3 Subjects: 750 Marks
• 4 Subjects: 1,000 Marks
• 5 Subjects: 1,250 Marks

CUET Total Marks for 3 Subjects in 2026

As per the NTA rules, students can also choose 3 subjects in CUET. If they select 3 subjects, the total marks will be 750 because each subject is of 250 marks. Out of 750, 650+ marks is an excellent score to get into college and the course of your choice. However, students must meet the eligibility requirements of the college they are interested in. To select 3 subjects, in CUET, you can choose 1 language subject, 2 domain subjects or 1 domain with General Aptitude Test and 1 language subject.

CUET Total Marks for 4 Subjects in 2026

If students choose 4 subjects in CUET, then the total marks will be 1000. We know each subject carries 250 marks, so the total for 4 subjects will be 1000 marks. The expected good score is 800+ marks out of 1000 marks. If your total score is determined out of 1000 marks, then 800+ marks is ideal for top-ranked colleges and the course you want to pursue. For more flexibility, students can select 1 language, 2 domain and a General Aptitude Test.

CUET Total Marks for 5 Subjects in 2026

The CUET total marks for 5 subjects are 1250. Students who have opted for 5 subjects for CUET UG 2026 will have their marks and percentile determined based on that. Each subject carries 250 marks; therefore, the total marks for 5 subjects are 1250. Students willing to choose 5 subjects can choose 1 subject from the Language section, 3 from the Domain section and 1 General Test subject. The expected cutoff for 5 subjects can be between 1100 and 1200 for top-ranked colleges like DU.

No, the CUET total marks do not vary category-wise. The total marks are based on the number of subjects students choose during the application process. Each subject you choose carries 250 marks, irrespective of the categories you belong to. However, the cut off score varies in all CUET participating colleges for categories such as General, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, etc.
